’22 Wellness Fair Oct 14
The 2022 Community Health & Wellness Fair, hosted by St. Mary’s County Department of Aging & Human Services, will be held Friday, Oct. 14, from 9am-3:30pm, in the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland campus, located at 44219 Airport Road in California, MD, next to Wildewood Center.
Release the Peace, Oct. 9, Lex Park Baptist Church
Concerts, activities, health and community information, and, of course, prayer will fill the lawn of Lexington Park Baptist Church on Oct. 9 from 2 to 5 pm at the inaugural Release the Peace collaboration of local clergy and police, a community event to bring clergy, churches, cops and community together to promote peace in our county.
Southhampton Slated for New Roads, Water & Sewer
St. Mary’s County and the Metropolitan Commission will be displaying their plans Sept. 29, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm, for a revitalization project in Lexington Park’s Southhampton Neighborhood, across Rt 235 from Pax River. The project includes reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, driveway aprons, storm drainage system, new stormwater management facilities, and improvements to the public water and sewer systems.
Hazardous Waste Collection Sept. 10
It’s time for citizens to clean out barns, basements, sheds, garages, storage areas under kitchen sinks, and properly discard potentially toxic/dangerous materials. St. Mary’s County residents wishing to safely dispose of household hazardous waste materials will once again have an opportunity to do so. The St. Andrew’s Landfill will host a hazardous waste collection Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
