Staff at the St. Mary’s County Department of Aging and Human Services’ Northern Senior Activity Center were recognized on June 11 with a Program of Excellence Award: Honorable Mention in the Nutrition and Health Promotions Category from the Maryland Association of Senior Centers for Lyme Action Tool Kits.

One Weekend, Two Lighthouses

National Lighthouse Weekend on Aug. 3 and 4 will offer an opportunity to visit two local lighthouses. The open houses will be held from 10 am to 5 pm on the first weekend in August.

Free Pesticide Container Recycling Offered

The Maryland Department of Agriculture will sponsor a summer collection program for high density polyethylene pesticide containers for farmers, pesticide applicators, and others who wish to dispose of plastic pesticide containers properly.

Designed and installed by North Beach, MD, artist Roz Racanello, the collage of portraits includes a wide array of creators with the message: Artists come in every color of the rainbow.
