County Government July 4 Schedule

Veterans Day

All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence Day. Offices will reopen for regular business hours July 5.

Calvert Cliffs Siren Test: Noon June 3

A full-cycle test of the alert and notification sirens throughout St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Dorchester counties will take place at noon Monday, June 3, 2024.

Memorial Day Schedule for St. Mary’s Govt.

Labor Day

All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will resume normal operating schedules May 28. Great Mills Pool will be open 11am to 5pm. The St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, Old Jail Museum, and Wicomico Shores Golf Course will be open.

Commissioners’ Public Forum Jan. 30

The St. Mary’s County commissioners will host a public forum at 6:30pm Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown.

Columbus Day Closings in St. Mary’s

All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Oct. 9 in observance of Columbus Day. The St. Andrew’s Landfill and convenience centers will be open and operate as normal Oct. 9.

Self-Service Sandbags Available for Residents

St. Mary’s County will offer self-service sandbags from noon to 5pm today, Friday, September 22, 2023, for citizens wishing to prepare for potential flooding. Sandbags are not pre-filled and are limited to between 10 and 25 sandbags per person while supplies last.

Hazardous Waste Collection Sept. 10

It’s time for citizens to clean out barns, basements, sheds, garages, storage areas under kitchen sinks, and properly discard potentially toxic/dangerous materials. St. Mary’s County residents wishing to safely dispose of household hazardous waste materials will once again have an opportunity to do so. The St. Andrew’s Landfill will host a hazardous waste collection Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
