Library to Host Black History Program
The Lexington Park Library will host “Soul of Langston,” a Black History Month performance from 2 to 3pm on Saturday, February 3, at the library on FDR Boulevard in Lexington Park, MD.
Oct. 7 Drayden Schoolhouse Open House
A free open house will be offered at the Drayden African American Schoolhouse in Drayden on October 7 from 11am to 2pm. It will be the last open house in 2023.
Interpretive Center Open House & Lecture Planned
A special two-part event highlighting the contributions of St. Mary’s County’s US Colored Troops and Medal of Honor recipients will be held 10am to 4pm September 26, 2023, in Lexington Park.
Just Society Art Contest Entries Due Oct. 1
High school seniors attending any public, private, or home school in St. Mary’s County are invited to enter original art pieces in the St. Mary’s County Just Society Art Contest. Entries are due to the Old Jail Museum by 5pm October 1, 2023,

2023 Juneteenth Festival Set in Lex Park
The Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions is excited to host this year’s Juneteenth African American heritage celebration on June 17 at John G. Lancaster Park in Lexington Park.

Black Civil War Soldiers Exhibit Makes Stop in Lex Park
The “Seventeen Men: Portraits of African American Civil War Soldiers” exhibit will make a stop in Lexington Park. The traveling exhibit will be available free to the public on select days September 7 through December 7, 2022. An opening reception will be held 3 to 6 pm Thursday, September 1, 2022.
