Gray Named New Sotterley Exec. Director
Scott Gray has been named as executive director at Historic Sotterley. He assumes the position from Nancy Easterling, who announced her retirement in May.

Stewart Artwork in New College Exhibit
New art exhibit at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, “Sharing our Common Humanity from Common Ground,” features 38 portraits of Historic Sotterley descendants by artist Nicole Stewart.
Sunset at Sotterley Gala Set Sept. 13
The Sunset at Sotterley fundraiser will be held from 6 to 9pm Saturday, September 13, 2025. The evening will include golden-hour views, a signature cocktail, food, silent auctions, and music and dancing in the remodeled Barns at Sotterley. Tickets are on sale now.
Join Sotterley for Day of Unity & Healing
Historic Sotterley will open its grounds to the public for its Day of Unity and Healing on August 23, 2025, in recognition of the UNESCO International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and Its Abolition.
Bankins New President of Sotterley Board
Gwendoline Bankins will lead Historic Sotterley as its new Board of Trustees president. She will be the first person in Maryland who was descended from those enslaved at a historic site to step into this leadership role.
