Memorial Day Schedule for St. Mary’s Govt.

Labor Day

All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will resume normal operating schedules May 28. Great Mills Pool will be open 11am to 5pm. The St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, Old Jail Museum, and Wicomico Shores Golf Course will be open.

Self-Service Sandbags Available for Residents

St. Mary’s County will offer self-service sandbags from noon to 5pm today, Friday, September 22, 2023, for citizens wishing to prepare for potential flooding. Sandbags are not pre-filled and are limited to between 10 and 25 sandbags per person while supplies last.

Legislative Proposals Sought From Residents

The St. Mary’s County commissioners will hold a meeting with members of the county’s legislative delegation at 6 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021, to hear legislative proposals from organizations and citizens.

New Exhibits Greet Visitors to Lighthouse

Piney Point Lighthouse Museum in Piney Point has reopened its galleries, including a variety of new exhibits, to visitors with pre-purchased tickets. The museum has been closed since March due to COVID-19 shutdowns.

St. Mary’s Election Day Vote Centers

St. Mary’s County will have seven Election Day vote centers open today, November 3, 2020, from 7 am to 8 pm. These locations are open to all voters regardless of district.

A mobile food drive will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at the Church of the Ascension at 21641 Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, MD.

Free Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinics Planned

The St. Mary’s County Health Department is partnering with the public school system to offer free drive-thru flu vaccine clinics for children 3 to 18 at several locations in the county.

Sierra Club Planting Trees at 3 County Parks

Volunteers from the Southern Maryland Sierra Club are planting native trees at three St. Mary’s County parks, including John G. Lancaster Park in Lexington Park.

Community Corrections Center Plan Introduced

The St. Mary’s County Equity Task Force, comprised of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, health department, and public school system is announcing plans for the launch of a new Community Corrections Center.

GM Pool to Close Temporarily for Maintenance

The Great Mills pool will be closed for seasonal maintenance and to replace the dome structure to convert from the outdoor to the indoor pool from September 20-25, 2020.
