Open houses are planned at the Drayden African American Schoolhouse in Drayden, MD, in honor of Black History Month. They will be held from 11 am to 2 pm February 20 and 27, 2021.

Piney Point Lighthouse Museum in Piney Point has reopened its galleries, including a variety of new exhibits, to visitors with pre-purchased tickets. The museum has been closed since March due to COVID-19 shutdowns.

The Friends of St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Museums was recently awarded a $2,300 grant from the National Parks Service for a Runaway Slave exhibit at the Old Jail Museum in Leonardtown.

St. Mary’s County artist Nicole Stewart has donated one of her paintings to the St. Clement’s Island Museum. The oil on canvas painting is titled “Water Taxi.” It will be part of the museum’s upcoming art auction fundraiser.
