Power Plant Siren Test Monday, Oct. 2
A full-cycle test of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant alert and notification sirens throughout St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Dorchester counties will occur Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at noon. The test includes a three-minute activation of all sirens within the 10-mile radius of the plant.
CSM Main Stage Season Begins
The fall theater season has begun at the College of Southern Maryland Main Stage. Presentations of “The Voice of the Prairie” started this week, and will continue at 8 pm Sept. 29 and 2 pm Sept. 30 at the college’s Fine Arts Building on the La Plata Campus.
School Safety Efforts Honored
St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron and St. Mary’s Superintendent Scott Smith were awarded the first-ever School Safety Superintendent and Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award for 2016/2017. The award was presented in recognition of their commitment to keep students and staff safe during the school year.
