Deputies Help Save the Lives of Two

In June, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies helped save the lives of two people – an 80-year-old man who was playing tennis and a 3-year-old playing in a pool.

Equity Resolution Signed in Lexington Park

The sheriff, superintendent of schools, and the county health officer have joined forces to combat bias and inequity in St. Mary’s County. They formally signed an equity resolution in the new District 4 Sheriff Station in Lexington Park, MD.

Ceremony Commemorates Emancipation Day

A soil collection ceremony was held Nov. 1 in commemoration of lynching victim Benjamin Hance. Mr. Hance was said to have died in 1887 in St. Mary’s County. The Emancipation Day ceremony was one of healing and remembrance for the only documented lynching victim in the county.
