Torpedoes Remembered in Piney Point: Message From the Captain

Pentagon Eyes Change in Cellphone Policy
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is expected to order a tightening of security policy governing military and civilian personnel bringing cellphones into classified workspaces in the Pentagon.
Hoyer Plans Election Security Forum
Two US congressmen visited the Election Assistance Commission in Silver Spring in early May, and while there announced their plans to host a public forum on Election Security on May 22 in Rockville. Congressman Steny H. Hoyer made the announcement with Congressman Jamie Raskin, who serves on the Committee on House Administration, which oversees the EAC.
SMECO 75 Bike Ride Coming Up
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative is committed to the community, and each year it raises money for a different charity in the region through two main fund-raisers: the SMECO 75 Bike Ride in June and the Charity Golf Tournament in October.

Engineering Students Receive Full Scholarships
A pair of engineering students at the College of Southern Maryland have received Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarships from the US Department of Defense. Lusby’s Kevin Jackson, 22, and Dentsville’s Noah Schaeffer, 20, received scholarships that will pay for the remainder of their undergraduate education.
