K9 Cooper Retires From Sheriff’s Office
A respected member of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has handed in his badge for a life of relaxation, rest, and rabbit-chasing. K9 Cooper, a bloodhound who has become well-known in St. Mary’s County, retired in November.

Students Accept Social Entrepreneurship Challenge

College of Southern Maryland has named Stevenson Foote as the new head coach for men’s lacrosse. Mr. Foote is the former coach at St. Mary’s Ryken and Patuxent High School.

Hoyer, Team MD Announce Preschool Funding
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (Md.-5) has joined U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski, and US Representatives Elijah Cummings, Chris Van Hollen, C.A. “Dutch” Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Donna F. Edwards, and John Delaney, all Maryland Democrats, in announcing that Maryland has been awarded $15 million this year through the Preschool Development Grants program to provide high-quality preschool programs in 19 school districts across Maryland.

The marketing and community relations teams at the College of Southern Maryland have gained national recognition for excellence. CSM was honored for its efforts at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations District 1 conference in Newport, Rhode Island, in early November.
