Marketing, PR Staff Earn National Awards

Staff members from the College of Southern Maryland’s Advancement Division were honored by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations District 1 for various marketing and public relations efforts over the past year. The marketing and community relations teams at the College of Southern Maryland have gained national recognition for excellence. CSM was honored for its efforts at the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations District 1 conference held in Newport, Rhode Island, in early November.

The departments received two gold, six silver, and two bronze awards.

“The CSM marketing and community relations teams never cease to amaze me. They are a group of extremely talented professionals who see integrated marketing as their mission and brand management as an everyday goal; they get it,” said Michelle Goodwin, CSM vice president of advancement and executive director of the CSM Foundation. “Congratulations to all of them, they work really hard every day developing the CSM image that goes beyond expectations.”

Gold awards were given for the my.csmd portal redesign in the Electronic Media Microsite category to Cindy Breck and Kristen Titsworth and for a feature/news story on the Legacy Gift by the Gottfrieds to the “Make An Impact” campaign in the Media/Public Relations category to Karen Smith Hupp and Trish Christofaro.

Silver awards went to the Fall 2016 Class Schedule in the Publications category to Katherine Reyes and Amanda Lozano; “Alexander, Who’s Not Not Not Not Not Not Going to Move” in the Poster category to Carol Wade; websites for the CSM Foundation and the college in the Electronic Media Website category to Titsworth, Breck, and VisionPoint Marketing; the “Pokemon Go” Fall Campaign in the Miscellaneous Wild Card category to Titsworth, Lozano, and Rich Vega; and the Hawk Talk in the Electronic Media Electronic Publication category to Vega and Lozano.

Bronze awards were earned by Brenda Jones and Reyes for Connections in the Publications Magazine category, and by Larisa Pfeiffer, Val Nyce, Christofaro, and Smith Hupp for CSMLove in the Social Media Campaign category.

NCMPR is the only organization of its kind to exclusively represent marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges.
