Phone Scam Targets SMECO Customers
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative is issuing a warning to its customers to beware of scammers targeting residents in the region. Some customer-members have received phone calls from scammers identifying themselves as SMECO employees and demanding prepaid debit cards in order to avoid having electric service cut off.
CSM Dedicates First Hughesville Building
The first completed building on the Regional Hughesville Campus of the College of Southern Maryland will be dedicated at 2:30 pm April 25, 2017, with a ceremony attended by Southern Maryland elected officials and business and community leaders.

On April 28, College of Southern Maryland’s Corporate Center will host Administrative Professionals Development Day from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm at the Leonardtown Campus to celebrate these professionals.
SMECO Nominating Committee Meets May 13
The 2017 Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative Nominating Committee — appointed at the March meeting of SMECO’s Board of Directors — will meet at 9 am Saturday, May 13, 2017, to select candidates for SMECO’s board.
SMECO Makes Changes to Annual Meeting
In 2017, the SMECO annual meeting will be a simple business meeting, and election of board members and bylaw changes will be voted on by mail.
