College of Southern Maryland has cut the ribbon on its new Regional Hughesville Campus, realizing the college community’s dream of having its new Center for Trades and Energy Training, located in the center of the tri-county region.

Barbara Scotland has been a technical writer, an English professor, and a department chair, and now, thanks to training by the College of Southern Maryland, she is a housing contractor. Scotland, a resident of Hughesville, wants to see more women in trades.
Students Lobby Legislators on Education Issues

College of Southern Maryland students traveled to Annapolis on Feb. 8 to meet with their state legislators. The visit to the state capital was part of Student Advocacy Day, an annual event sponsored by the Maryland Association of Community Colleges.
