1st SMECO EV Charging Station Opens
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative opened its first EV Recharge public charging station for electric vehicles at the St. Mary’s County Public Library and Garvey Activity Senior Center on Hayden Farm Lane in Leonardtown. The station has 24-hour access.
Lex Park Winter Home Grown Market Open
The Home Grown Farm Market in Lexington Park holds winter markets on Saturdays, 10 am to 1 pm and weather permitting, at 21078 Three Notch Road south of Lexington Park. Summer hours begin next month.
Library Opening – Limits in Place
St. Mary’s County Library announces a limited public opening March 8 when customers may again browse the collection and use public computers, copiers, and fax machines. Precautions will be in place.
JSHS Regional Symposium Goes Virtual March 13
The Patuxent Partnership has been awarded the Maryland Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. This is the third year that TPP has collaborated with Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division and St. Mary’s College of Maryland on the event.
Get Out the Vax Forum Saturday
The St. Mary’s County Health Department, in partnership with the St. Mary’s County NAACP and the Minority Outreach Coalition, is launching a new local Get Out the Vax campaign on Feb. 27, 2021.
Museum Seeks Historic Photos, Documents
St. Clement’s Island Museum is seeking historic documents, photos, and other significant objects related to St. Clement’s Island and the Colton’s Point area from the 20th century and earlier.
Phone Support Available for COVID Vaccine Registration
The St. Mary’s County Health Department is offering assistance with COVID-19 vaccine appointment registration over the phone for residents who are eligible for the vaccine based on current local criteria.
Christmas Trees Recycled Until Jan. 31
A reminder for St. Mary’s County residents: Christmas trees can be dropped off at the St. Andrew’s Landfill and the county convenience centers free of charge. Undecorated trees may be placed in the designated areas at these sites through Jan. 31, 2021.
St. Mary’s Residents 65 & Older Can Register for Vaccine
The St. Mary’s County Health Department has opened COVID-19 vaccination registration for St. Mary’s residents 65 and older in preparation for the next phase of local COVID vaccination efforts.
