Harwood, Bates Re-Appointed as CSM Trustees

The College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustees at its June 21 meeting re-appointed Theodore L. Harwood of St. Mary’s County as the board’s chair and Bradley O. Bates of St. Mary’s County as vice chair, effective July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.

College Is Certified as a Bee Campus

All four College of Southern Maryland campus sites enjoy beautiful landscaping with carefully tended shrubs, flowers, and more. From now on, though, the college is being more intentional with how it fills out its landscape as it is a newly certified affiliate of the Bee Campus USA Program.

Chautauqua Brings Living History to CSM

The College of Southern Maryland will host the 2018 Chautauqua Series on July 10, 11, and 12, beginning at 6:45 each evening at the CSM Fine Arts Building theater at 8730 Mitchell Road in La Plata. The presentations are free.

Student Reaps Benefits of STEM Education

Kristina Babinski, 29, of Pomfret graduated in May with an associate degree in electrical engineering. The real benefit of her STEM Education at College of Southern Maryland, however, is the professional experience she gained last summer interning with the University of Maryland’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site along with two other CSM engineering students.

Presidential Scholar Finds Leadership Opportunities

When she was about to graduate Patuxent High School, Oluwaseyi Kintunde had no plans to become a Presidential Scholar or attend College of Southern Maryland. Her plan was to leave the area for a four-year school and play on the university’s volleyball team. However, a fall at the Senior Night volleyball game changed her plans.

CSM Golf Competes in Nat’l Tournament
