A commitment to Green Practices has led to recognition for the College of Southern Maryland, which has earned a 2019 EcoLeadership Award.

CSM’s Bee Campus, More Get Grant Boost

The Chaney Enterprises Foundation awarded the College of Southern Maryland two grants in September for a total of $20,000 for the college’s efforts inside and outside its classrooms. Programs like the Bee Campus and skills training are getting a boost.

All four College of Southern Maryland campus sites enjoy beautiful landscaping with carefully tended shrubs, flowers, and more. From now on, though, the college is being more intentional with how it fills out its landscape as it is a newly certified affiliate of the Bee Campus USA Program.

New CSM Tuition Rate Set

College of Southern Maryland students will see an increase in tuition for the fall 2017 semester. Tuition for residents of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties will increase by $2 per credit to $125 per credit, a 1.6 percent increase.

CSM Gets Big Rebate After Light Fixture Changes

Making some energy-saving changes on campus garnered a big payout for the College of Southern Maryland. CSM received a $133,000 rebate from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s Business Solutions program after the college completed retrofit lighting projects in buildings at the La Plata, Prince Frederick, and Leonardtown campuses.

CSM’s Physical Plant Director Looks for Green

The College of Southern Maryland’s physical plant executive director, David Dalo, looks to improve the environment as he reviews 23 buildings on 326 acres throughout Southern Maryland’s three counties.
