CSM Grows Innovation, Tech Opportunities
The College of Southern Maryland, along with Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, College Park, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce, have endowed $8.6 million in three new research professorships.

CSM, AVIAN Create Training Agreement
College of Southern Maryland and AVIAN LLC have created a new collaborative training agreement, in which CSM will offer three new workforce development and training courses at its Leonardtown Campus, starting in fall 2017. The new partnership was marked with a ceremonial signing May 22.
Unmanned Vehicle Competition Planned
The local Seafarer Chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International is all set to host the annual Student Unmanned Aerial System Competition this month, June 14 to 17, 2017, with support from The Patuxent Partnership.

From STEM expos to robotics and rocketry, Raytheon has been a proactive partner with the county’s school system and community partners. The company was named The Patuxent Partnership’s 2016 Member of the Year for its commitment to the community and the work at NAS Pax River.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Gene Townsend, president of The Patuxent Partnership Board of Directors, will give a presentation on the history of Pax River and what it means to St. Mary’s and the rest of the U.S.

The Patuxent Partnership will present “Identifying Solutions to Warfighter Challenges Through Technology and Innovation” at a day-long conference June 28, 2017. Start-up firms and TPP members as well as non-member firms may sign up to exhibit at the event. Limited exhibitors spaces are available.
