Maryland Moves Primary Election to June 2
Maryland’s primary election has been moved to Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Early voting will be conducted from May 21 through May 28.
March 17 Coronavirus Updates for St. Mary’s
The following is the updated list of St. Mary’s County closings, cancellations, and postponements related to the COVID-19 public health threat. While at this time, there are no identified cases of COVID-19 in St. Mary’s County, residents are encouraged to continue social distancing measures by avoiding crowded areas and restricting travel and localize movement.
Beacon of Hope Offering Tele-Recovery Support
Walden’s Beacon of Hope team has been working on a schedule to combine cooperation and support of community-wide efforts for social distancing as a protection against the spread of COVID19 with its ongoing commitment to supporting recovery in community.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative is suspending electric disconnects for non-payment.
SMECO Files for a Rate Decrease
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has submitted a filing to the Maryland Public Service Commission to reduce its base energy charges by more than 10% for residential customers.

Coronavirus Response Act Passes House
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer announced Sunday that the House has passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act in a 363-40 vote.
Lunch Service to Be Provided for Students During School Closures
St. Mary’s County Public Schools will provide a drive-up lunch service Monday-Friday from April 20-24, 2020, at the four locations from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm daily.
