Nat’l Cemeteries Open Dawn to Dusk Memorial Weekend
The 155 national cemeteries managed by Veterans Affairs will be open from dawn to dusk throughout Memorial Day weekend, and more than 130 will hold ceremonies to mark the day of remembrance for those who died in service to the US. The VA invites all veterans, family members, survivors and the public to the ceremonies honoring heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Message from the Cap’n – The Poetry of Trot-lining
Trot-lining is a method of catching Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs by tying hunks of bait (eels chopped into 2-inch to 3-inch pieces, or bull lips, are especially favored) and netting the crabs as they munch away at the delicacy. For the Cap’n, trot-lining is pure poetry.

Blue Star Museum Program Begins May 18
Historic St. Mary’s City and St. Clement’s Island and Piney Point Lighthouse museums will join the Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that provides free admission to currently serving US military personnel and their families. The 2024 program runs May 18-September 2.
WOLF Five-Year Review to Begin
A five-year review of existing Record of Decision documents and ongoing environmental cleanup actions at Webster Outlying Field in St. Inigoes is set to begin, while the sixth five-year review at Naval Air Station Patuxent River is completed.
