Pentagon Paused V-22 Osprey Flights Again
The Pentagon paused non-essential flights of its Bell Boeing V-22 Ospreys again, after initial investigations into the emergency landing of an Air Force CV-22 last month indicated a potential material failure in a component. The fleet was temporarily grounded a year ago after a Nov. 29, 2023 crash near Yakushima Japan killed all eight aboard.

Pentagon: No Evidence of Aliens in UFO Cases
The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities was told last week that none of the more than 650 unexplained anomalous phenomena, or UAP, incidents under investigation since the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office’s July 2022 inception were of an alien nature.
At NAS Pax, Take the Pedal Off the Metal
NAS Patuxent River has lowered speed limits on base in an attempt to improve driver, pedestrian, and cyclist safety. In most areas where a change has occurred, the speed limit has been lowered to 25 mph.

Today, Tuesday, July 19, is 2022 Primary Election Day in Maryland. Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm.
Blue Angels Fly Into Annapolis This Week
Commissioning Week has begun in Annapolis, and two flyovers by the Navy flight demo team, the Blue Angels, are planned. Visitors can see the arrival and rehearsal on Tuesday, May 24. The jets will also do a flyover during the graduation Friday where President Joe Biden is expected to be the keynote speaker.
Students Earn Service Academy Appts.
Twelve Fifth District students have been appointed to the US service academies. The students were nominated by Congressman Steny H. Hoyer.
55 Marylanders in Naval Academy’s Class of ’21
The US Naval Academy held its commencement Friday in Annapolis with Vice President Kamala Harris giving the keynote address. There were 1,084 graduates and 55 of them were Marylanders.
New Commandant at Naval Academy
COL James “J.P.” McDonough III will be the next commandant at the US Naval Academy. The Marine Corps artillery officer was a 1994 graduate of the academy.
Fire on Navy Ship Under Investigation
Officials are investigating a fire on the USS Bonhomme Richard on Sunday that injured a dozen sailors and several civilians. The fire is believed to have stated in a cargo hold on the ship docked at Naval Base San Diego.
