Ceremony Honors 5th President of CSM
State and local dignitaries as well from colleagues from Maryland’s community colleges, and the College of Southern Maryland’s faculty, students, and foundation came together as Dr. Maureen Murphy was installed as the fifth president of the college in a ceremony May 22, 2018.
CSM Donors Break Records on Giving Tuesday
Donors demonstrated the generosity that is the hallmark of this community as they donated nearly $120,000 to the College of Southern Maryland Foundation on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017.
CSM Honors Scholarship Recipients
College of Southern Maryland scholarship recipients and donors were honored at the 2017 CSM Foundation Scholarship Reception at the Physical Education Center on the La Plata Campus. Close to 300 students were awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships, and more will be awarded in January for the spring semester.
CSM’s Giving Tuesday Is Nov. 28
The College of Southern Maryland Foundation is gearing up to celebrate Giving Tuesday, a day when local residents step forward with gifts large and small to help local community college students as they work toward degrees, mastery of new skills sets, or certificates.
Foundation Awards CSM Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Southern Maryland presented awards on behalf of three funds and totaling $6,700 to support three scholarships at the College of Southern Maryland.

CSM Celebrates Gottfried’s Legacy
College of Southern Maryland and nearly 300 supporters celebrated on June 3 the legacy of retiring President Dr. Brad Gottfried. His 11-year tenure was highlighted during “Celebrating a Career, Building Futures” at the Center for Trades and Energy Training on the newly dedicated CSM Regional Hughesville Campus, one of Gottfried’s most recent visions realized.

Calvert Chamber Makes CSM Donation
Members of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce donated $1,030 to the CSM Foundation during its Giving Tuesday efforts in November.
Plein Air Festival Earns $3,000 for Art Scholarship
As artists were capturing Southern Maryland scenes in the fall at the Solomons Plein Air Festival, presented by Avian, patrons were buying their favorites pieces of artwork. Proceeds from those sales have been given to six community organizations, including a $3,000 donation to the College of Southern Maryland Foundation for the Dennis Lake Smith Art Scholarship.
