Foreign Military Sales Program Set Jan. 10
The Patuxent Partnership will host Department of Defense military and government leadership in a program, “Foreign Military Sales Essential to US Defense,” at 8 am Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.
Students Accept Social Entrepreneurship Challenge
Students at the College of Southern Maryland went far beyond their classrooms and into the community during Dr. Mary Beth Klinger’s Principles of Management course last spring. The students took on the Southern Maryland Social Entrepreneurship Challenge, spending a semester forming teams to pinpoint the region’s problems and innovating their potential solutions.

New Men’s Lacrosse Coach at CSM
College of Southern Maryland has named Stevenson Foote as the new head coach for men’s lacrosse. Mr. Foote is the former coach at St. Mary’s Ryken and Patuxent High School.
SMECO Donates to Operation: Tohidu
This year, SMECO was able to donate $53,476 to Melwood’s Operation: Tohidu because of the money raised during the SMECO 75 Bike Ride in June and the SMECO Annual Charity Golf Outing in October.

Deputies Speak to Young Men About Life, Leadership
Representatives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office recently spoke to the young men who are members of a local group called EMPOWER, which stands for Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence. At the Nov. 19, 2016, presentation, the speakers talked about law enforcement interactions, life decisions, and leadership.
