Sahara Dust Plume Due in MD on Sunday
The Sahara dust plume is was 5,000 miles long by the end of June. The swirling dust headed toward the United States off the Sahara Desert is expected to move into the southern Mid-Atlantic and sections of the Carolinas toward the end of the weekend. NASA imaging shows another dust plume now off the coast of Africa and following the same path.
Truman Strike Group Joins 6th Fleet
The US Navy said the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and its strike group entered the 6th Fleet’s area of operations. The Truman had been sidelined due to electrical glitches; it is expected to relieve the USS Abraham Lincoln.

The chairs of the House and Senate Armed Services committees side with the defense industry against Pentagon plans regarding contractor pay which calls for less money up front when it buys major weapons systems.
