Hoyer says unemployment claims ought to set off alarm bells with the release of advance claim figures for Dec. 5 that show initial claims were 853,000, an increase of 137,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 4,000 from 712,000 to 716,000.
