Nighttime Work Set on Solomons Bridge
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin pavement repairs on the MD 4 Bridge over the Patuxent River (Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge) at the Calvert/St. Mary’s County line. The nighttime work will begin Sunday, September 29.
Hilton Run Bridge Replacement Begins
The Maryland State Highway Administration is beginning construction on a $6.8 million replacement of the MD 5 (Point Lookout Road) bridge over Hilton Run south of Great Mills. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Route 5 Intersection Work Begins in March
Critical construction at the Route 5 intersection in Leonardtown with Abell Street and Moakley Street will begin in March, and the first stage will continue through the summer.

Bridge at Allens Fresh Run to Close Saturday Morning
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close the MD 234 (Budds Creek Road) bridge over Allens Fresh Run in Charles County this Saturday, December 8 to inspect and resurface the bridge. This is the temporary bridge which was installed in 2011 following severe storm damage from Hurricane Irene. To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, SHA must close MD 234 at the bridge for approximately 12 hours, from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday morning.
