Mary Shasho Remembered Through CSM Scholarships
Two College of Southern Maryland scholarships have been created in memory of the late Mary Shasho, a local volunteer and enthusiastic supporter of all levels of Scouting in Southern Maryland. The scholarship has been established by Mrs. Shasho’s husband, local businessman Harry Shasho of Shasho Consulting.
Students Show Off Computer Skills
The 28th annual Southern Maryland High School Computer Bowl was held March 4. Sponsored by Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, the competition underscores the importance and value of computer skills for students who plan to become proficient in technical and industrial fields.
CSM Chooses New President
Dr. Maureen Murphy has been selected as the fifth president of the College of Southern Maryland. The announcement was made by the CSM Board of Trustees this month.
Dominion Cove Point Works to Recruit at CSM
The Dominion Cove Point LNG Terminal in Lusby needs employees, and College of Southern Maryland students need jobs. A recruiting event Feb. 16 at the Leonardtown Campus brought those two needs together.
Sisters at Heart Scholarship Honors Group Founder
For the Sisters at Heart, it’s a matter of the heart. The local cancer survivor group has honored its leader, Roberta Kieliger of La Plata, by creating a scholarship in her name at the College of Southern Maryland.
Unmanned Aircraft Courses Offered by CSM
Two classes have been added to the spring schedule at the College of Southern Maryland’s Leonardtown Campus, helping anyone who wants to learn to safely operate and use a small unmanned aircraft, or drone.
CSM Play Focuses on ‘Iraqi Psyche’
The College of Southern Maryland Cause Theatre will present “9 Parts of Desire.” The play examines the Iraqi mindset through the eyes of nine Iraqi women. It will be performed three times from March 16-18 at the La Plata Campus.

‘Knuffle Bunny’ Opens at CSM March 10
The College of Southern Maryland Children’s Theatre will present “Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical,” a play by Mo Willems about a girl and her father dealing with the loss of a beloved stuffed animal.
