New Phase of Road Work to Begin Aug. 15

FDR Boulevard road work is continuing, and drivers in that area should expect delays in the coming weeks. Driving on FDR Boulevard, First Colony Boulevard near the First Colony Shopping Center, and Old Rolling Road might be a little bit more difficult and require some planning as the construction progresses and FDR gets closer to completion.

Exelon Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant will perform post-maintenance tests on two St. Mary’s County sirens. There will be a full-cycle test of alert and notification sirens No. 41 and No. 45 in St. Mary’s on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

After St. Mary’s County government received a number of comments from citizens about the January 2016 draft proposal of the Mattapany Rural Legacy Area, the boundary has been revised. Citizens can review and discuss the changes from 6 to 7:30 pm Aug. 4.

St. Mary’s Surgeon Receives Honors

Dr. John Roache has touched the lives of countless patients in St. Mary’s County, many of whom are multiple generations of the same family, as well as friends, co-workers, and neighbors, for more than 42 years at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. As the respected and renowned surgeon retired from his long career, the St. Mary’s County commissioners honored him with a ceremony to thank him for all his years of service.
