New Phase of Road Work to Begin Aug. 15

Work on FDR Boulevard Expected to Last About a Year

FDR Boulevard road work is continuing, and drivers in that area should expect delays in the coming weeks. Driving on FDR Boulevard, First Colony Boulevard near the First Colony Shopping Center, and Old Rolling Road might be a little bit more difficult and require some planning as the construction progresses and FDR gets closer to completion.

The next phase of the project is called Phase 1B, and will start on or about Aug. 15, 2016, depending on weather conditions. This phase includes the 8th Election District from First Colony Boulevard to just west of the Old Rolling Road intersection in California, MD. The work is expected to last for about a year before it is completed. Crews will be working from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening on weekdays and from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening on weekends to try to get the project completed as quickly as possible.

Through the year of this phase of construction, there will be construction vehicles in the roadway. Motorists who regularly travel on these roads should allow for extra time in their schedule in case of delays. The dates and time of the construction could change due to weather conditions, so be sure to watch the signs in the area for updates and be aware of the conditions of the weather and construction so you can plan accordingly.
