The holidays are the season of giving, but not everyone is interested in being charitable. The Maryland Secretary of State’s Office is warning residents to be aware of deceptive practices and charity scams as the year ends.

New Direction Community Theater will present its annual kid’s holiday show, “Annie Jr.,” with an all-“no adults” cast at 7 pm Dec. 2 and 3 and 9 and 10 and 3 pm Dec. 3 and 4 and 10 and 11 at the Long Beach Community Center in St. Leonard.

Preliminary Breath Test instruments are in high demand for law enforcement agencies. The devices, used to quickly test alcohol consumption, are one of the most frequently used items in most agencies. In early November, the Nam Knights of America, Skipjack chapter donated a Preliminary Breath Test instrument to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
