The best way to gather data about severe weather is by getting help from every citizen, and on Nov. 7, 2016, the St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services & Technology will host SKYWARN winter storm training for volunteers who want to help. The session will be held in the Chesapeake Building on the Governmental Center Campus in Leonardtown at 41770 Baldridge St.

Deputies Deliver Backpacks of Love

There are thousands of possible circumstances that could lead to a child being placed in foster care, but every case has one thing in common: the children are scared, and they need love and understanding. To show that someone is always thinking of them, some St. Mary’s County organizations have teamed up to provide “Backpacks of Love” to children: backpacks that are filled with essential gender- and age-specific items.
