Be Prepared. Hurricane Season Begins
St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services urges community members to be prepared for the Atlantic hurricane season, which began June 1, 2023, and goes through November 30, 2023.
SKYWARN Weather Spotter Class Offered
St. Mary’s County will host an in-person SKYWARN Tropical course from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the Chesapeake Building at 41770 Baldridge St. in Leonardtown.
Don’t Forget to Hashtag #SMCStormReport
The St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services is expanding its situational awareness during and after weather-related incidents by encouraging citizens to use the hashtag #SMCStormReport on any social media platform when posting pictures of property damage.
Be a Weather Spotter With SKYWARN
St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services will host a SKYWARN Basics class from 6 to 9 pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Chesapeake Building at 41770 Baldridge St. in Leonardtown.
Learn to Be a Weather Spotter
The best way to gather data about severe weather is by getting help from every citizen, and on Nov. 7, 2016, the St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services & Technology will host SKYWARN winter storm training for volunteers who want to help. The session will be held in the Chesapeake Building on the Governmental Center Campus in Leonardtown at 41770 Baldridge St.
