Action Demanded on Sewage Release into Chesapeake
After discovering that two wastewater treatment plants in Baltimore have been releasing millions of gallons of partially untreated sewage into the Chesapeake Bay, Blue Water Maryland has notified the city it may file a lawsuit to force improvements. The state has confirmed discharge violations near the Patapsco Wastewater Treatment Plant and Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant.

MPT Chesapeake Program Shot Partially in Piney Point
Maryland Public Television will celebrate the Chesapeake Bay region April 18-24 during its Chesapeake Bay Week, programs and documentaries highlighting the nation’s largest estuary. The cornerstone of the series is the premiere of “Creatures of the Chesapeake” at 8 pm April 20. This special program, which was shot partially at the Piney Point Aquaculture Center, uses macro photography to provide an up-close look at some of the bay’s most iconic and unusual species.
2020 Assessment Gives Chesapeake Bay D+ Rating
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation released its 2020 State of the Bay report, and last year’s assessment gave the bay a D+ rating, one point less than the 2018 score.
