France became the second international customer of the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye last month with an offer to buy three E-2D aircraft from the US Navy, for a maximum value of $2 billion.
2nd DefSec Waiver Faces Struggle
The principle of civilian control of the military is at stake, say an increasing number of Democrats opposed to a waiver that would allow President-elect Joe Biden’s pick for Secretary of Defense to move forward. The US DefSec must be separated seven years from the military. GEN Lloyd Austin retired four years ago. The same waiver was sought by President Trump and received for former DefSec James Mattis.
Jobs in US Declined in December
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report for December 2020 shows clear evidence of the work needed to help our economy weather the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, said Rep. Steny H. Hoyer. The report showed that jobs declined by 140,000 in December.
St. Mary’s Residents 65 & Older Can Register for Vaccine
The St. Mary’s County Health Department has opened COVID-19 vaccination registration for St. Mary’s residents 65 and older in preparation for the next phase of local COVID vaccination efforts.
