House OKs Its Version of Defense Budget
The US House has approved its version of the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, and also gave the OK to open an independent investigation of US failures in Afghanistan, require women to register for the draft, and change how the military prosecutes sex assault.
US Asked to Stop Osprey Flights in Japan
Japan has asked the US to halt Osprey flights there after the US Navy and Marine Corps called off the search for three Marines who disappeared after an MV-22 crashed off the coast of Australia last weekend. Critics in Japan say the Osprey, which takes off and lands like a helicopter but can fly like an airplane, is unsafe.
