Marlay-Taylor Facility Is Open for Tours
Advanced Placement environment science students at Chopticon High School recently were able to tour the Marlay-Taylor Wastewater Reclamation Facility in St. Mary’s County, getting a detailed tour led by DuWayne Potter, the plant’s superintendent.
MetCom Preparing for Winter Storm
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for St. Mary’s County from 1 am through 7 pm Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. Snowfall of 3 to 6 inches is predicted with the highest totals expected for the southern portions of the county.
Erichsen Takes Job as MetCom Executive Director
George Erichsen, a longtime employee of St. Mary’s County government, will resign his position as Department of Public Works and Transportation director to accept the position of executive director with the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission. Mr. Erichsen was chosen for the position following a nationwide search.
Waterline Project Topic of MetCom Meeting
The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is gearing up for the proposed St. Clements Shores Water System Replacement Phase 1 Project No. 2101WR by scheduling a public meeting to notify and inform the community at 6:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016. The meeting will be in MetCom’s main conference room at 23121 Camden Way in California, MD, and presenters will discuss replacement of the waterline system.
Hermine Expected to Bring High Winds, Heavy Rain
A tropical storm warning was issued Friday, Sept. 2, for Southern Maryland indicating that tropical storm force conditions are likely. Therefore, the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is encouraging its customers to prepare for associated high winds, heavy rains and localized flooding.
