Events in June 2017 at the College of Southern Maryland include an open house at the college’s newest campus, kids’ and teen programs, and the beginning of the summer session.
The College of Southern Maryland Tri-County Job and Career Fair brought together 55 businesses and 400 job seekers March 28 at the La Plata Campus.
More than 600 candidates for 912 degrees and certificates were celebrated at the College of Southern Maryland’s 58th spring commencement on May 18, 2017, at the La Plata Campus.

Two of the Health Sciences Division programs at the College of Southern Maryland have been re-accredited. The Associate Nursing Degree and Practical Nursing Certificate programs at the college have been granted eight years of accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
The College of Southern Maryland recognized Denise Snee for being the recipient of this year’s Annual Faculty Excellence Award Honoring Adjunct Faculty at the college’s 18th Winter Commencement held in January.

Four College of Southern Maryland students were honored for public service announcements they produced last semester as part of their digital media production class. Students from CSM and Towson University were invited to create and submit 30-second PSAs that warn state residents about the danger of items being stolen from cars in Maryland.

Barbara Scotland has been a technical writer, an English professor, and a department chair, and now, thanks to training by the College of Southern Maryland, she is a housing contractor. Scotland, a resident of Hughesville, wants to see more women in trades.
