The St. Mary’s County commissioners will hold a public hearing April 21. Due to social distancing guidelines, the hearing will not be open to the public. In lieu of making an appearance in person, there are four options the public can use.

The St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation has completed construction to relocate the section of Lawrence Hayden Road between Airport View Drive and Primevere Drive in Hollywood.

1887 Lynching Victim to Be Memorialized With Historic Marker

St. Mary’s County is planning a Community Remembrance Project about Benjamin Hance, the only recorded lynching victim in St. Mary’s County in 1887. The next step in the remembrance of Mr. Hance is to establish a historic marker about his story in Leonardtown.

MetCom Wants You to Adopt a Fire Hydrant

The Metropolitan Commission and volunteer fire departments are asking the community to partner with them in their Adopt-A-Hydrant program. Adopting a fire hydrant close to your home or business will assist fire fighters by keeping hydrants free of vegetation and debris in the summer and cleared of snow during the winter.
