Survey Needs Spanish-Speaking Volunteers
The Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership’s Access to Care Action Team has been working to develop a Hispanic Needs Survey to better assess the needs of the local Hispanic community. The Hispanic Outreach Team is looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers for a community canvassing event.

MedStar Awards Seven Scholarships
Seven local students earned scholarships totaling approximately $168,000 from MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown to pursue careers in nursing and allied health.

Juneteenth Festival Planned June 16
For the 15th year, the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions will offer its annual Juneteenth Festival to celebrate African-American heritage in St. Mary’s County. The free event is set for noon to 8 pm June 16, 2018, at John G. Lancaster Park in Lexington Park.

Wound Healing Center Is Center of the Year
The Wound Healing Center at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown has a new honor to tout. The center has been named the Atlantic Zone’s Center of the Year by Healogics Inc. — one of just seven centers out of nearly 700 to achieve this status.
