College of Southern Maryland will host a Night of Engineering on Feb. 22, 2017, supported in part by The Patuxent Partnership.
Mayport Lands East Coast Drone Hub
Naval Station Mayport in Florida was selected to house the Navy’s new squadron of unmanned aerial surveillance Triton drones. Mayport in Jacksonville was chosen as the drone hub from three finalists. The other two were NAS Key West and NASA Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Virginia.

CSM Events Highlight Black History Month
The College of Southern Maryland is planning events for Black History Month. The college’s Institutional Equity and Diversity Office will host a documentary screening and discussion of “13th” and a visit by Jimmy Bland, a baseball hall of famer and veteran, who will share his experiences in the Negro League and the US Army.

Phull Joins MedStar Staff, Helps Children Breathe Easier
Dr. Gurpreet Phull has joined the MedStar Medical Group. He is seeing patients at MedStar’s Charlotte Hall facility. Dr. Phull joins MedStar in urging parents to understand the best ways to help children cope with asthma and pulmonary problems in the winter.
Film Festival Continues at SMHEC
The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center will offer the third film in the Bridges to the World International Film Festival on Wednesday, Feb. 22. “Son of Saul” will be shown at 6:30 pm.
