Student leaders at the College of Southern Maryland who go beyond the classroom by becoming involved in the college community were recognized for their impact at the annual Student Government Association banquet May 12 at Middleton Hall in Waldorf.
Auditions Set for CSM Fall Theater Season
Auditions for the fall theater season at the College of Southern Maryland will be held from 6 to 8 pm Aug. 8 and 9, 2016, in the Fine Arts Center Theatre on the La Plata Campus. CSM is planning four in-house productions for the fall. Auditions are open to the public.
CSM Student Lands Engineering Internship
Christopher Simmons, a CSM engineering student, couldn’t wait for summer to start and not for the obvious reasons of trips to the beach, chilling with friends or sleeping in. Instead, Simmons earned a prestigious spot in the Research Experience for Undergraduates: Summer Engineering Research Experiences in Transportation Electrification at the University of Maryland.
New Tuition Price Set at CSM
Tuition rates at the College of Southern Maryland have been set for the upcoming academic year, with an increase of $3 per credit to $123 per credit, for residents of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
Golf Classic Raises Money for Scholarships
For 25 years, the College of Southern Maryland Foundation has been raising money with the annual Golf Classic. The event’s Grand Tournament Sponsor, Marrick Homes, is celebrating along with the foundation as they plan this year’s event, set for Thursday, Aug. 18, at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club in Issue.
CSM Trustees Appoint Leadership
Dorothea Holt Smith had been re-appointed as chair of the College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustees and Theodore L. Harwood has been appointed vice chair, effective July 1, 2016.
CSM Presents 3 Children’s Theatre Performances
CSM’s Children’s Theatre will perform “Sprit of Hispania: Hispanic Tales,” a play by Jules Tasca that explores Latin American mythology, as part of CSM’s 2016 Twilight Performance Series. Performances take place Aug. 2 in Leonardtown, Aug. 3 in La Plata, and Aug. 4 in Prince Frederick.
CSM Celebrates First Class of GED Grads
Families and friends gathered June 30 at the Leonardtown campus for the first graduates of the College of Southern Maryland General Education Development program.
Bricks Honor Friends, Neighbors
The College of Southern Maryland has found a way to create a timeless tribute to the people and places that make the region unique. The walkways at all three campuses now have brick areas in which friends and neighbors are able to purchase bricks with names engraved on them, and a recent ceremony at the Leonardtown campus marked yet another brick space for these names.
