CSM Presents 3 Children’s Theatre Performances

CSM children's theater 2016

The College of Southern Maryland is wrapping up its summer 2016 Twilight Performance Series with a production of CSM’s Children’s Theatre “Sprit of Hispania: Hispanic Tales,” a play by Jules Tasca that explores Latin American mythology.

Performances take place Aug. 2 on the Leonardtown campus, Aug. 3 on the La Plata campus, and Aug. 4 on the Prince Frederick campus.

The Twilight Series will take place outdoors on the La Plata campus Fine Arts Building lawn at 8730 Mitchell Road, the Leonardtown campus great lawn at 22950 Hollywood Road, and the Prince Frederick campus patio at 115 J.W. Williams Road. Audience members are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket as well as food or beverages. No alcohol will be permitted.

In the event of rain, performances will move indoors. On the La Plata campus, performances will be in the Fine Arts Center; on the Leonardtown campus in the Building A auditorium; and on the Prince Frederick campus in the Building B multipurpose room.

Performances are subject to change.

The college is proud that children and families can experience the theater right here in Southern Maryland. With performances that highlight fanciful wishes and adventures, kick start your child’s love of theater and the stage. During the year, the college often has children’s performances adding weekday matinees to the schedule to allow schools and homeschool groups to see performances, which are held at the La Plata campus Fine Arts Center theater.

CSM also offers theater workshops and classes for children through the CSM Kids’ and Teen College.

The 2016 Twilight series offered family-friendly entertainment to local residents. Guests were entertained by national and local jazz, rock and military bands, as well as by Chautauqua’s historical portrayals. Performers included the Dave Chappell Band, Afro Bop Alliance, Coastline, US Navy Band Navy Commodores, Jennifer Cooper and GrooveSpan, and US Navy Band Sea Chanters.
