CSM Arts Season Kicks Off
The fine arts program at the College of Southern Maryland has begun, and the community is invited to enjoy shows, see recitals, peruse artwork, and sometimes participate in this excellent lineup.
Cause Theatre Presents ‘Benched’
In the College of Southern Maryland’s Cause Theater presentation of “Benched,” life for three women who meet on the bench can be crazy, fun, and eventually quite difficult. The play is about the trio, who meet every day at the same park bench to laugh, commiserate and complain about the challenges of motherhood.

Physicist, Inventor, Student: Rickard Achieves
Kristina Rickard started college when she was just 15. Already a Great Mills High School student, Ms. Rickard began her higher education journey at the College of Southern Maryland through the dual enrollment program.
Prep for Future at CSM Transfer Fairs
Most students at the College of Southern Maryland intend to move on and pursue bachelor’s degrees, and the college wants to do everything possible to create an easy transition. During Transfer Awareness Week, Sept. 19-23, 2016, students can learn more about the transfer process.
CSM Staffers Stuff Backpacks for Students
Students in elementary, middle and high schools in Charles County have gotten an extra bit of help with school supplies this year, courtesy of a large group of volunteers from the College of Southern Maryland. The volunteers were stuffing backpacks of just about every color and design with pencils, paper, crayons, markers, highlighters, binders, composition books, glue and glue sticks, scissors, rulers and more.
CSM Creates New Institute for Entrepreneurs
Recognizing the need to nurture the entrepreneurs and innovators in the region, the College of Southern Maryland has formed the Entrepreneur and Innovation Institute, and has announced Thomas Luginbill as its director.
Bates, Dunkle, Webster Appointed as Trustees
Three new members of the College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustees have been appointed by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. Margaret C. Dunkle and Jay W. Webster of Calvert County and Bradley O. Bates of St. Mary’s County are now members of the governing body that provides leadership and oversight of the college’s mission and policies. They will serve five-year terms as part of the nine-member board.
Session Details NSA Co-op Program at CSM
Students who are interested in learning more about the National Security Agency’s educational co-op program can attend an information session. The NSA Co-op will be discussed at 6 pm Sept. 14, 2016, at the College of Southern Maryland La Plata Campus’s Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Room 113, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.
ACEN Site Review Set for Nursing Programs
The College of Southern Maryland will host a site review Sept. 21 for continuing accreditation of its Practical Nursing Certificate and Associate of Science Degree in Nursing programs by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
