CSM Signs 10 Hawks to Basketball Team

The College of Southern Maryland women’s basketball is gearing up for the 2016-17 season.

The college has signed 10 players to the 2016-17 team, including: freshman Tamara Burns, a guard, from Fairfax High School in Virginia; freshman Gabby Coley, a guard, from Chancellor High School in Virginia; freshman Brittany Coles, a forward and center, from Westlake High School in Waldorf; freshman Doretha Curry, a guard, from Gwynn Park High School in Clinton; sophomore Saundra “Sinai” Downs, a guard, from Maurice J. McDonough High School in Pomfret; freshman Paris Ferguson, a forward, from Great Mills High School in Great Mills; sophomore Kiona Montgomery, a guard, from Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head; freshman Haley Oliver, a guard and a transfer Louisburg College; freshman Erica Silver, a forward and center, from Parkdale High School in Riverdale; and sophomore Akilah Stroman, a forward, from St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown.

“This group of players will have a tremendous impact to our program in the 2016-17 season and will help our program continue to lay the foundation for success academically and on the court,” said head coach Ardell Jackson, who is in his second season at CSM. “We are very excited that [the students] have chosen to join the College of Southern Maryland women’s basketball program and are looking forward to what each and every one of them will bring to the to the table next season.”
