St. Mary’s: ‘Hotbed’ of Aviation Development
Aerospace companies that want to get their operations off the ground should consider Maryland, which is home to more than 9,000 such companies. A recent investment profile points out that St. Mary’s County is “a hotbed of military and civil aviation development” with NAVAIR at Pax River and other facilities in the region.

The A. James Clark School of Engineering of the University of Maryland at College Park, with financial support from The Patuxent Partnership and SoMD 2030, will host a free summer camp program at the University System of Maryland at Southern MD. Deadline to apply is May 31.
USMSM to Host Autonomy Workforce Summit
The University of Maryland MATRIX Lab will hold a free summit April 3-4, 2024, focused on developing the autonomy workforce of the future. The event will be held at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland SMART Building in California, MD.
US Set to Train Ukrainian F-16 Pilots
The Pentagon said that the US will begin training Ukrainian F-16 pilots within the next few months. Following English language training for pilots, F-16 flying training is expected to begin in October at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, AZ, facilitated by the Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing.
Inaugural Spark! Career Fair a Success
By all accounts, the inaugural Spark! Student Career Awareness Fair was a success. More than 440 students from the tri-county area participated in The Patuxent Partnership event March 30, 2023.
