A respected member of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has handed in his badge for a life of relaxation, rest, and rabbit-chasing. K9 Cooper, a bloodhound who has become well-known in St. Mary’s County, retired in November.

Lexington Park Seeks Artist for First Public Mural

Lexington Park is seeking an artist for its first public mural. The St. Mary’s Community Development Corp. is soliciting design proposals for a mural in black and white plus one accent color to appear on all or part of a 15-foot-high and 50-foot-wide cinderblock wall visible from a busy Lexington Park intersection.

Deputies Speak to Young Men About Life, Leadership

Representatives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office recently spoke to the young men who are members of a local group called EMPOWER, which stands for Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence. At the Nov. 19, 2016, presentation, the speakers talked about law enforcement interactions, life decisions, and leadership.
