Free Document Shredding Event Oct. 26
A community shredding event will be held 8am to noon Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the St. Andrew’s Landfill.
Free Mulch Available at St. Andrew’s Landfill
Free mulch is available to St. Mary’s County residents to pick up from the St. Andrew’s Landfill.
Self-Service Sandbags Available for Residents
Self-service sandbags will be available for St. Mary’s County residents wishing to prepare for possible flooding conditions due to Tropical Storm Debby on Wednesday, August 7, and Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the St. Andrew’s Landfill during regular business hours 8am to 4:30pm.
County Govt. Juneteenth Schedule
All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
Memorial Day Schedule for St. Mary’s Govt.
All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Offices will resume normal operating schedules May 28. Great Mills Pool will be open 11am to 5pm. The St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, Old Jail Museum, and Wicomico Shores Golf Course will be open.
County Govt. MLK Day Schedule
St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Offices will resume normal operating schedules on Tuesday, January 16.

St. Mary’s Tire Drop-Off: Aug. 12
Scrap Tire Disposal Day will be from 8am to 3pm Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the St. Andrew’s Landfill at 44837 St. Andrews Church Road in California, MD. This event is for St. Mary’s County residents only; commercial haulers are not permitted to be part of this event.
Hazardous Waste Collection March 25
The St. Mary’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation will host a hazardous waste collection day March 25, 2023, from 8am to 2pm at the St. Andrew’s Landfill.
Thanksgiving Holiday Closings
St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed November 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
