SMECO Adds More EV Charging Stations
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has commissioned 32 electric vehicle charging stations in Southern Maryland, as of December 2022.
SMECO Employees Donate to Center for Children
Employees at Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative donated $55,000 to the Center for Children, a nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse in the region. The money was raised at SMECO’s annual golf outing in September.
Vet Resource Day Nov. 4 – Free
Veterans Resource Day on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, from 9am to 2pm at the Univ. of Maryland at Southern Maryland, at 44219 Airport Rd, California, MD 20619. This free event is open to the public with support from Mission BBQ and SMECO.
SMECO Employees Help Florida Restoration Efforts
On October 2, five Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative employees drove to southwest Florida to assist in restoration efforts following a devastating blow from Hurricane Ian.
SMECO Holds 84th Annual Meeting
More than 8,600 voted in SMECO’s election of its Board of Directors for the next three year. The incoming directors are: W. Michael Phipps of Calvert County; George Heinze and Richard A. Winkler of Charles County; James A. Richards of Prince George’s County; and Scott White of St. Mary’s County.
SMECO Annual Meeting Aug. 25
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative will hold its annual meeting Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall. The meeting will begin at 6 pm.

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative recently hosted more than a dozen high school students to help inspire the next generation of women engineers.

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative will refund members’ capital credits totaling nearly $7.1 million.
