SMECO’s Math Challenge Winners
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative co-sponsored the annual Elementary Mathematics Challenge Competition for fourth- and fifth-graders in March 2023.
Deadline April 6 to Apply for SMECO Scholarship
Each year, the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative awards four $2,500 college scholarships to high school seniors who live in the co-op’s service area. The application deadline is Thursday, April 6, 2023.
SMECO Nominating Committee to Meet
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s Board of Directors has appointed 10 members to the 2023 Nominating Committee scheduled to meet Wednesday, May 10. The committee will review candidate applications for the five board positions to be elected this year.
SMECO Sponsors 2023 Math Competition
The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative sponsored the 29th annual regional MATHCOUNTS. More than 150 students from 17 schools competed in the math contest.
SMECO Scholarship Deadline April 6
April 6 is the deadline to apply for a SMECO scholarship. Each year, the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative awards four $2,500 college scholarships to high school seniors who live in the co-op’s service area. Recipients are chosen based on scholastic achievement, financial need, and community and school involvement.
SMECO Members Helping Members
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative reminds its members that they can help their neighbors who are struggling to pay their electric bills by contributing to Members Helping Members. Members can sign up to add $1, $5, or $10 to their electric bills each month.
SMECO Adds More EV Charging Stations
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has commissioned 32 electric vehicle charging stations in Southern Maryland, as of December 2022.
SMECO Employees Donate to Center for Children
Employees at Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative donated $55,000 to the Center for Children, a nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse in the region. The money was raised at SMECO’s annual golf outing in September.
Vet Resource Day Nov. 4 – Free
