SMECO Adjusts Its Energy Charges
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative received approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission to adjust its energy charges. New Standard Offer Service rates will go into effect with February 2022 bills.
SMECO Elects Board of Directors
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative elected its Board of Directors at the co-op’s 83rd annual meeting held August 26, 2021, at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall in Mechanicsville.
Credits to Be Issued to SMECO Members
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s eligible active members will receive credits on their bills, and checks will be issued to eligible former members, as the company is refunding capital credits totaling nearly $6.6 million.
SMECO Elects Board @ 82nd Annual Meeting
SMECO held its 82nd annual meeting August 27, 2020, at the cooperative’s headquarters in Hughesville, MD. The Board of Directors election was conducted online and by mail prior to the meeting.
Hammett Leaves SMECO Board After 30 Years
Samuel “Jack” Hammett has resigned his seat on the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. He served on the board for 30 years.
SMECO Files for a Rate Decrease
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has submitted a filing to the Maryland Public Service Commission to reduce its base energy charges by more than 10% for residential customers.
Cox Named New SMECO CEO
Sonja M. Cox has been named as the new president and CEO of the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative.
