SMECO Annual Meeting Aug. 24 in Mechanicsville
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s annual members’ meeting will start at 6pm August 24 at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department.
SMECO Board of Director Ballots Mailed
SMECO has mailed ballots for its board of directors election. Online and mail-in ballots must be received by August 17, 2023. The annual members’ meeting will be August 24.
SMECO Crews Tackled Outages After Weekend Storm
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative crews worked throughout the night on Saturday, July 29, to restore electric service to members who were affected by power outages from severe weather.
Capital Credits Refunded to SMECO Members
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative is refunding members’ capital credits totaling nearly $5.6 million. Of that total, a general refund of approximately $3 million will be issued in July.
SMECO Warns of Scammer Threats
SMECO members have reported receiving calls from scammers threatening to disconnect their power if they don’t make a payment. Do not make a payment until you’ve checked your account balance. SMECO will not call and threaten to disconnect your power in 30 minutes.
Four Earn SMECO Scholarships
Four high school seniors who live in the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative service area have been awarded scholarships. They are Zoe McCall, Lauren McNair, Ivy Phillips, and William Spruill.
